Project overview
Second Armor is a peer-to-peer marketplace for second-hand tactical and military gear, connecting buyers and sellers across Europe. The platform needed a fully custom design, a companion mobile app, and a set of powerful features to drive seller engagement, trust, and conversion — from referral incentives and pro seller profiles to flexible payment options and automated shipping.
We built the full platform on Sharetribe with a React Native mobile app, delivering a feature-rich marketplace in 4 to 6 weeks — launching with 500+ users and 300+ product listings.
The Challenges
Second Armor required a significant custom build on top of Sharetribe — covering design, mobile, payments, shipping, and seller engagement features that don't exist natively.
Custom design implementation — full frontend redesign replacing all default Sharetribe UI
React Native mobile app — a fully branded iOS and Android companion app for the marketplace
Referral system with invite codes — users can invite others using a personal invite code to grow the seller and buyer base
Username feature — pro seller profile URLs use a custom username instead of a system-generated ID for a professional, shareable profile link
Make an offer — buyers can submit custom offers on listings, giving sellers flexibility beyond fixed pricing
PayPal integration alongside Stripe Connect — giving sellers more payment options at checkout
Wishlist — buyers can save and track listings they're interested in
SendCloud shipping integration — automated shipping label generation and tracking for European orders
Our Approach
We started with a pixel-perfect custom design implementation — rebuilding the entire Sharetribe frontend to match the Second Armor brand. A React Native mobile app was built in parallel, giving buyers and sellers a native iOS and Android experience with full marketplace functionality.
The referral system was built with unique invite codes per user — incentivising organic growth by rewarding both the referrer and the new user. Username-based profile URLs were implemented for pro sellers, replacing Sharetribe's default ID-based URLs with clean, shareable profile links that build seller credibility.
The make an offer feature was added to give buyers and sellers a negotiation layer — buyers submit offers, sellers accept or decline, keeping transactions flexible. PayPal was integrated alongside Stripe Connect, expanding payment options for sellers across Europe. A wishlist was built for buyers to save and revisit listings, and SendCloud was connected for automated shipping label generation and real-time tracking across European carriers.
